Scratch-O-Topia Workshop

- 2011 -

The Scratch-o-topia workshop held by Canadian animator Steven Woloshen was, without a doubt, a unique experience for film aficionados. During this workshop, we were introduced to a camera-less experimental animation technique. This direct animation technique implies drawing and scratching directly on 35 mm film, frame by frame, using tools such as paints, colored crayons and cutters.

During the scratch animation workshop, which took place on the first weekend of the XX Animest Festival, 15 participants had the chance to create animated sequences using  the materials offered by the festival organizers. The workshop was geared towards animation enthusiasts 16 and above.
